HOUSING UNITS INCREASE 14% FROM 1970 - 2004

U.S. Census data show that San Francisco added 35,853 new housing units from 1970 to 2000.
The California Department of Finance estimates that since 2000 San Francisco has added an additional 7,963 units, for a total increase of 14% since 1970.

While San Francisco increased its housing units by 43,816 from 1970 to 2004, the City gained an estimated 77,000 new residents in the same time period.
