Median rent for two-bedroom units in San Francisco has risen steadily since 1979 at an average rate of 8.1%, for an overall increase of 452% for the period.

In comparison, the Consumer Price Index for the Bay Area during the same period increased at a rate of only 4.8%, for an overall increase of 178%.
