The Controller's Office, City Services Auditor presents an interim report on the assessment of police district boundaries pursuant to Administrative Code Sec.2A.86. The purpose of the interim report is to discuss national strategies for district boundary assessments and provide lessons learned from assessments in five comparison jurisdictions. The report also provides a high-level overview of the police districts as they are currently drawn in San Francisco. A final report applying the lessons learned and an analysis of crime rates, district staffing and survey responses related to San Francisco's boundaries will be issued early next year. The final report will also identify strategies for establishing police district boundaries which optimize service delivery and enhance public safety.
