Years refer
to the spring of the school year.
|
Data from the
California Department of Education indicate that high school
dropout rates have declined in the state since 1994. Although
San Francisco's drop out rate increased for the 2002 - 2003
school year, the rate remains significantly lower than in years
prior to 2000 - 2001.
The four-year derived dropout rate
is an estimate of the percentage of students who would drop out
in a four-year period.
It should be noted that dropout rates
reflect students enrolled during a school year who stop attending
for 45 days, but may not include "no-show" students who
fail to enroll for a school year (i.e., who drop out between school
years).
